As the Material Cost Engineering Director for our Apparel/Equipment division in GSM, your primary focus will be material cost benchmarking (from end to end process), work with key stakeholders on both long term and short term pricing strategies and target setting. Drive process evolution and proliferate best practices to ensure our teams make informed business decisions, maximize resources, and deliver sustained performance.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or a related field of study, MBA is a bonus. with a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience

  • Understand external market intelligence, processes, dynamics and provide Macro guidance on different material types. Elevate External market dynamics and their impacts on Nike’s spend (e.g. impact of commodity markets on materials pricing, impact of oil. etc)

  • Establish key profitability drivers and ensures financial target achieved

  • Provide costing leadership with insights on cost driver developments and vendor competitiveness using systematic costing and benchmarking methods

  • Drive consistent cost excellence to costing, through the implementation and maintenance of SOPs and processes.

  • Support the negotiation meetings with all strategic suppliers to ensure cost sustainable through transparent and analytical approach.

  • Drive the team to make meet key cost performance metrics (cost parameters) on material cost benchmarking and hit NIKE target

  • Cross-functional project management experience, with ability to lead projects across multiple functions / geographies

  • Curious, proactive, and experience providing innovative ideas to solve problems.

  • Strong influencing skills and ability to build consensus

  • Proven ability to tolerate ambiguity in a constantly evolving environment.

  • Strong presentation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, including development and delivery of presentations to senior leadership

  • Experience to lead teams

  • Demonstrated ability to use fact-based insights to influence decision making

  • Analytically strong, detail oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Strong written and verbal communicator with a demonstrated ability to network, influence and inspire
