Description

The mission of the GSM COE is to accelerate and enable GSM operational excellence by nurturing and developing new and existing organizational capabilities. The GSM Portfolio Management & Business Transition team oversees the governance process to manage the delivery of GSM portfolio of strategic initiatives, facilitates and supports the delivery of projects, and enables business readiness and transition for all change initiatives.

The GSM Portfolio Management & Business Transition Director will provide day-to-day direction to, and management of, Portfolio, Program and Transition Management Teams. This key role will lead a team and work in strategic coordination with senior management to maintain the broader view of many simultaneous high-visibility and high-impact programs. You will partner with leaders across the organization at the highest levels to develop and maintain plans & operational processes that emphasize collective readiness and effective, coordinated activation.

You will play an integral role in enabling the development of comprehensive GSM strategy deployment plans, and the development of a holistic view of GSM’s strategic initiative portfolio. You will also develop and deliver high-impact presentations and tools to communicate these plans across the organization. You will oversee the development of portfolio benefits to inform decision-making, and oversee a variety of analytic work to identify, resolve and implement solutions. This position will oversee the development of an Organizational Readiness business model, complete with the appropriate tools and community development activities to ensure the organization’s objectives are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, or related field(s) required; MBA preferred.

• A minimum 8+ years' experience in Management Consulting, Project Management, Portfolio Management, Transition Management, Project Accounting, Finance ops and related disciplines.

• 8+ years’ experience in cross-functional program and project management skills in large organizations.

• Strong strategic thinker with proven experience building new capabilities and teams.

• Experienced in the development and implementation of a Program Management Office and Portfolio Management processes.

• Strong financial skills with experience building business/economic cases for large initiatives.

• Experience leading a large cross-functional portfolio of change initiatives, wide-scale organizational change experience is preferred.

• Strong risk/opportunity identification, analysis, and management skills.

• Extensive experience with Organizational Change Management and/or Process Improvement initiatives as applied to a large globally-dispersed organization.

• 8+ years’ planning and managing across multiple projects in a globally distributed development environment.

• Consulting skills - ability to grasp the issue and situation; recommend and implement a solution; to translate concepts into executable tasks.

• Superior writing, communication, and presentation skills.

• Ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

• Proven ability to manage and develop people.

• Ability to work with high degree of independence while managing upward communication to executive leadership teams and management.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Six Sigma/Lean process improvement knowledge preferred.
