Description

The Sustainable Business & Innovation (SB&I) Science and Technology team works to identify and seed lower impact chemistry and materials on behalf of Nike, including the profitable reuse of Nike’s material “waste.” One of the team’s core responsibilities is the operation of Nike Grind, Nike's industry-leading material recycling program. The Nike Grind Senior Business Manager will be the primary contact for all Nike Grind customers and will lead the business operations related to successfully and profitably managing those account relationships. This position will report to the Director of Nike Grind.

At its core, this role is about co-creating a marketplace to recycle Nike materials and managing a growing portfolio of customer relationships. The position requires someone who is simultaneously adept at business development, accounts management, operating a P&L, conducting industry analyses and company due diligence, and contributing to our business strategy.

  • Partner with Nike Grind Director to shape the future of a recycled materials marketplace that supports Nike Inc’s sustainability and zero waste to landfill goals

  • Manage a portfolio of global Nike Grind customer relationships to maximize the value of each relationship for both Nike and for the customers

  • Support aggressive growth goals for Nike Grind including: partnering with Director to identify, pursue and sign new customers; expanding the use of Nike Grind (new material types, new industries, and/or new products); supporting market analyses for new customer acquisition; contributing to strategic “buy” versus “build” thinking to establish a materials marketplace; establishing annual revenue forecasts and ensure targets are met.

  • Manage Nike Grind web presence, marketing campaigns, and day-to-day relationship with marketing agency to drive more leads for customers’ Nike Grind products and by extension usage of Nike Grind materials. Coordinate and steward input on all marketing and communications that require internal Nike review, including but not limited to PR, Communications, Brand, Legal and SB&I.

  • Strengthen Nike Grind’s brand and visibility by collaborating with Nike’s Global Community Impact and Sports Marketing teams as well as Nike’s sponsored athletes on key Nike-supported community and sport events.

  • Work with Nike Legal to develop new and/or amend supply and trademark contracts; ensure customers’ terms of contract are met.

  • Coordinate with Grind Analyst, who has lead responsibility for core program operations.

Qualifications

  • MBA or equivalent experience required

  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability issues, waste management, recycling or circular economy

  • Experience in the following areas preferred: material science or materials innovation, early-stage product development, manufacturing, business development and account management, growing a new venture, supply chain optimization and logistics, online marketplace platforms, P&L/financial management

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and relationship management skills

  • Highly organized, flexible, utility player who can juggle and prioritize among competing demands in a startup environment, while maintaining a positive “can do” attitude

  • Strong sense of personal accountability for the work Qualifications - MBA or equivalent experience required

  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability issues, waste management, recycling or circular economy
