Description

As our Apparel Senior Graphic Designer in Young Athletes, you'll lead design efforts within a category to create graphic and/or textile concepts and designs that appropriately reflect Nike's design philosophy. You will be responsible for gathering insights from all of our adult category partners and applying them appropriately within the Young Athletes line. Consumer is at the core of the Young Athletes category and you will be responsible for leading the efforts to gather these insights in collaboration with the triad partners, taking those insights and applying them to create graphics and prints that are right for our next generation of athletes. You'll understand and apply new technologies that bring innovation to Nike designs and applications. You'll act as a category graphic design lead and work with design leadership and category team members in Design, Development and Merchandising to ensure feasibility of designs, meeting price points, merchandising needs and product creation timelines. You'll also display leadership qualities for other designers and category team members, including sharing knowledge, experiences and skills with others. You may have responsibility for managing other designers, including hiring, providing coaching, feedback and performance evaluations. You'll communicate and present design concepts by producing presentation materials in conjunction with the Design and Category Teams that effectively communicate concepts behind the line for internal and external audiences. You'll also create and deliver powerful presentations of seasonal design proposals. This opportunity also involves providing appropriate materials to developers, account managers or graphic separators for the creation of separations, embroideries or trims. You'll maintain and continually expand upon expert knowledge of current trends, color, technology and sports related products through travel and research. In addition, you'll demonstrate an expert understanding of products, product lines, product development process and the specific markets in which Nike does business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design

• 8 years' related experience

• 2 years' additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree

• Exceptional ability to apply and perform graphic design skills, including drawing/sketching, typography, concept ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing and scale, visual presentation development and layout that is supported by a great portfolio of non-computer based creative art and graphic design

• Demonstrated ability to apply these skills in innovative ways that elevate product excellence

• Experience in the athletic/apparel industry with proven ability to understand and incorporate marketing principles and apply to design within set timelines

• Ability to use Macintosh computer design applications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in local market language, including meeting facilitation and presentations

• Ability to effectively communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience

• Ability to effectively elevate strategic concerns to senior management in a timely and accurate manner

• Ability to develop strong working relationships with management and external resources

• Strong knowledge of cross team collaboration

• Sound judgment and ability to provide information toward the determination of policy and strategy

• Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism

• Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to inspire, involve and mentor others within work group

• Ability to lead complex initiatives and project teams

• Ability to create new ideas, generate consensus and work cooperatively

• Accustomed to working in a rapidly changing, high growth environment

• Ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities, demands and changes
