Description

As our Apparel Designer II in Young Athletes, you'll utilize your advanced design skills to create original, innovative designs that appropriately reflect Nike's design philosophy and standards. You'll communicate and present design concepts and produce presentation materials in conjunction with the Design and Category teams that effectively communicate the concept behind the line for internal and external audiences. You'll work with design leadership and Category team members in Design, Development and Merchandising to ensure design feasibility and meet price points, merchandising needs and product creation timelines. You'll also provide prototype sampling information, including fabrication, trim, color, graphic applications, style, detail, fit requirements and construction detail. You'll monitor the development of prototype samples and interact with Development, Pattern Making, Materials, Apparel Lab, Field Testing and the Sample Room to exchange ideas and ensure the timely completion of each project. You'll work with design management and/or Sr. Designer to actively gain experience, enhance design skills and increase knowledge of Nike's design philosophy, products and processes. You'll build awareness of current trends, color, technology and sports related products through research and travel. In addition, you'll provide design support for the senior designer as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design

• 5 years' related experience

• 2 years' additional apparel design experience in lieu of a degree

• Proven ability to apply and perform design skills, such as drawing/sketching, concept ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing/scale, visual presentation development and layout

• Demonstrated ability to create market appropriate product designs within set timelines

• Basic knowledge of pattern making, draping, materials, trims and garment fit/construction, and manufacturing

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Familiarity with current trends, color and design

• Basic knowledge of the apparel industry, marketing principles, and development process
