Description

Nike need a new kind of leader. For our European Logistics Centre, we are looking for a Senior Data Scientist. One that not only loves complex data and analytical techniques but has the soft skills to build relationships and influence. One that will assimilate developing technologies and is also pragmatic on creating tangible business impact. Ultimately someone that relishes the challenge of pioneering advanced analytics in Supply Chain and Logistics, while also collaborating to build best practice across the Nike Data Science community.

The team’s role is to arm decision-makers with useful metrics, insights, predictions and analytics products – while coaxing them on a cultural change journey.

You will be working at an exciting company where Data Analytics is a board priority but needs you to help build the delivery roadmap.

This role will help to identify Logistics operational and strategic improvement opportunities, built on a foundation of understanding business operations:

  • Trend / macro analysis to discover opportunities and drive strategy

  • Causal analysis to tackle root cause and create tactics

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a passion in analytical techniques, data handling, statistical modelling, machine learning techniques, and/or coding. You will:

  • Answer complex business questions by using appropriate statistical techniques on available data or designing and running experiments to gather data.

  • Develop applications of classification, forecasting, simulation, optimization, and summarization techniques.

  • Work cross functionally with operators, decision makers and peers.

  • Create compelling interactive visualizations to enhance decision making.

  • Work across the full lifecycle; SQL data preparation, R or Python analyses, presenting results and convincing your stakeholders with your advice, industrializing new capabilities into business process.

Qualifications

• Advanced quantitative degree (Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science or related field) with at least 2 years of related experience.

• Demonstrated technical, analytical skill set to work with analytics toolkit (R, Python, SQL, Hadoop, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Tableau, scheduling tools) on large data sets

• Experience building and maintaining production analytics systems and models at enterprise scale, preferably prior experience in supply chain, logistics, and/or consumer goods industries

• Proven ability to sift through data, identify critical information, analyze, develop hypothesis and make recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences

• Experience in experiment design, analysis & quality checking

• Strong understanding of database structure, design, query languages, fundamental of mathematics, large data sets distributed systems and stats concepts 


• Knowledge of data mining algorithms such as decision trees, probability networks, clustering, regression and neural networks 


• Result-driven, pragmatic, persuasive and good written/verbal communication skills

• Familiarity with agile development methodology
