Description

NIKE is a diverse and dynamic company constantly pushing the envelope to develop and deliver game-changing products for our athletes*. With that comes a need to develop robust and sustainable processes and programs to ensure our products are designed, made, and delivered in a safe and compliant manner. The Supply Chain Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is a newly created position responsible for establishing programs and processes to facilitate Nike’s fast-paced, dynamic work in global logistics and in-house manufacturing. This is a single contributor position, responsible for supporting both strategic development and coordinating tactical deployment into global logistics and in-house manufacturing operations. The position is focused on establishing programs and processes to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and industry best practices with a specific focus on indoor air quality and industrial hygiene. The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of being an effective and agile business partner, have experience developing and implementing management systems in complex environments, have practical manufacturing experience, and be well versed in regulatory requirements, especially industrial hygiene.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategy for managing indoor air quality in product manufacturing and distribution.

  • Develop and implement program for ensuring 3PL partners adhere to Nike Code Leadership Standards.

  • Participate as a key contributor in chemistry COE.

  • Design and deliver global EHS programs and initiatives, which includes active participation on functional committees, contributing to program development, and helping to shape global EHS.

  • Introduce, educate, and provide training on global programs and processes as appropriate.

  • Continuously drive improvement in health and safety measures, instilling world class safety culture.

  • Take lead in preparing required plans and appropriate facility operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years practical EHS experience at a large global company with R&D and/or manufacturing operations and world class safety programs.

  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and their state equivalents as well as other applicable industry environmental, health and safety standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop all components of successful and sustainable safety programs.

  • Proficiency in conducting root cause investigations.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and thoroughly audit facilities as well as assist in addressing audit findings.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a business case in support of EHS initiative.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective standards and work instructions and train personnel with differing levels of education and experience.

Skills:

  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and to influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists

  • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills

  • Excellent problem solving techniques and quantitative analytical skills

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
