As our Senior Big Data Applications Administrator, you will be enabling platform applications to provide consumer insights and visualizations that drive Nike to new heights and leading innovation in supporting the Nike Direct Data Platform in the cloud.

We are looking for a senior applications engineer with a strong background in infrastructure operations in AWS (SysOps) and experience managing major applications and user facing analytics systems. This role will be the primary administrator for a large Tableau environment supporting over 5,000 users, multiple sites, and three environments (Dev/PreProd/Prod). Additional applications include Metric Insights, Adobe Analytics, Unica / Campaigns and related data systems in AWS – Hive, Athena, Redshift, and Oracle. The job includes managing & automating user access, systems operations (installs, upgrades, security patching, data integrations) and providing user support. This role will also assist in operational readiness work, including building out our monitoring, alerting, and operational support documentation. It will provide guidance and oversight to other team members supporting applications and users.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Applications Administrator for Tableau, Metric Insights, Adobe Analytics, and Campaigns/Unica.

• Ensure uptime and availability of the production environments, meeting user expectations and SLAs.

• Maintain production and pre-preproduction environments.

• Manage Tableau sites and add new sites as needed.

• Support Tableau Desktop dashboard publication processes.

• Maintain backup schedule and routinely test backup and recovery.

• Manage secure connections to data sources and ensure performance of data extracts and data loads.

• Provide administration and maintenance of AWS Redshift, Oracle, and other data platforms.

• Manage user provisioning and integration with Active Directory.

• Manage secure access to all applications in compliance with Nike’s policies.

• Provide engineering for automation, including use of infrastructure as code tooling.

• Coordinate communication for planned and unplanned outages.

• Ensure adequate monitoring and alerting methods are in place; coordinate Production Support for production environments.

• Provide system documentation and other administration tasks and duties as required.

• Coordinate with application vendors as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience managing multiple large scale applications in a production environement.

• 3+ years of experience with Tableau Administration, including supporting Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server based publishing.

• 3+ years of experience working integrating high volume data sources with Tableau and other applications.

• Operating Systems: 5 years experience with Windows Server; 3+ years with Linux

• Data administration: 2+ years of experience with data systems.

• Experience managing user provisioning and integration with security and authentication methods (Active Directory, LDAP, etc).

• 2+ years experience with direct user support for multiple applications.

• Programming: 1 year experience with Windows PowerShell; experience with Linux programming (shell, python, etc).

• Experience with Tableau desktop and dashboard development.

• Experience with AWS platforms preferred.

• Exposure to Big Data / Hadoop operations preferred.

• Monitoring: Hands on experience with monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Signal Fx, Nagios, New Relic, Splunk.

• Networking: Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, HTTP/S, load-balancers (ELB, HAProxy) and high availability architecture.

• Ability to keep systems running at peak performance, upgrade operating system, patches, and version upgrades.

• Agile/Scrum/Kanban experience.

• Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proven track record of success in fast-moving organizations with complex technology applications.
