Description

As the Manager, Lease Accounting for NIKE Controlling, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the organization recognizes cash spend associated with strategic and highly complex large-scale lease related transactions in accordance with US GAAP and NIKE Accounting Policy. You’ll actively partner with leadership teams throughout NIKE as they execute on strategic investments by vetting and communicating relevant technical accounting considerations present in strategy. You will participate as a key team member and subject matter expert as the organization executes global real estate, technology, value chain, direct to consumer, sourcing and manufacturing strategies. You’ll design, implement, and support sustainable controlling processes to enable ongoing growth and complexity as Nike's strategic investment portfolio expands and scales to enable NIKE, Inc.'s growth trajectory.

  • Work closely with and advise cross-functionalleadership teams of technical accounting considerations as they execute onbusiness strategies

  • Execute accounting processes and maintain effectiveinternal controls around the tracking and accounting for lease operations,including technical considerations around capital leases, embedded leases,and build to suit considerations in accordance with US GAAP and NIKEAccounting Policy

  • Partner with finance planning counterparts to driveforecast accuracy and informed business decisions, while enabling theexecution of strategic and financial initiatives

  • Participate in review of monthly, quarterly, and annualoperational results; continuously add value and be seen as a credible andtrusted business partner

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations and establishprocesses as needed to handle and enable new transaction streams

  • Be part of the larger NIKE Controlling Organization andembrace best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or relatedfield

  • 6+ years experience in accounting, finance or relatedfunctions

  • Big 4 Public accounting experience and Certified PublicAccountant (CPA) is strongly preferred

  • Strong enthusiasm and passion for the NIKE brand

  • Advanced experience with accounting for complex leaseagreements, including capital leases, embedded leases, and build-to-suitconsiderations

  • Experience with a Fortune 500/multinational consumerproducts company is strongly preferred

  • Exposure to ERP accounting and finance systems such asSAP or Oracle is strongly preferred;

  • Experience with researching complex technicalaccounting topics utilizing technical accounting resources and/or FASBCodification • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; abilityto effectively communicate status, issues, risks and opportunities withsenior leadership team;

  • Proven ability to communicate complex and/orcontroversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience,including meeting facilitation and presentations;

  • Proven ability to develop high profile, influential andcollaborative relationships across teams, functions and layers, preferablyinclusive of navigating a large corporation;

  • Transformative, process oriented and forward thinkingmindset

Qualifications
