Description

As our Tooling Technician, you’ll be responsible for the for the cleaning, inspection, maintenance, set-up, and storage of tooling used to produce air-cushioning components. This includes assuring tooling is in safe working condition and that it is production ready according to production specifications dictated by Engineering. You will understand the assembly of matched tool sets and will conduct evaluations on components using a variety of lab equipment.

You'll work in a cross-functional team with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production departments to assist in the commercialization process of new tooling, as well as modifications to existing tooling.

In addition, you'll document and log all work orders and processes and develop visual materials to display status of work-in-progress

The hours are Friday through Sunday from 5:12 pm to 5:12 am.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Experience with reading calipers, micrometers, and other inspection and measurement tools.

  • Experience with troubleshooting or strong technical knowledge of machinery

  • Ability to read and understand technical blueprints and drawings.

  • Some background in steel rule cutting, die fabrication, and some machining experience is a plus, (mill, lathe, etc.).

  • Work on prototype and production tooling repair & assembly.

  • Ability to use personal computer, basic hand tools, maintenance shop equipment including a lathe, drill press, belt sander, soldering tools, grinder, Vernier calipers, steel rule die bending equipment, and others that could be needed to perform tooling maintenance duties

  • Must be able to operate hydraulic lifts and tables

  • Fork truck experience, a plus

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Outlook preferred

  • Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, push, grasp, reach and the ability to lift objects up to 70 lbs

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Previous experience operating extrusion and/or thermoforming equipment, preferred
