Description

As a Principal Architect at Nike, you'll act as an Expert on specific and/or emerging technologies in highly available, global-scale business critical systems. You'll work on the most complex projects and contribute to the overall strategic vision of the organization.

You'll be an Expert in highly scalable and distributed application reference architectures and implementations grounded in patterns and driven by demands of our business partners.

This opportunity also involves evaluating, designing and establishing technical protocols and standards for enterprise-wide use and evaluating vendor solutions.

You'll provide thought leadership, create strategies and make recommendations on a wide variety of complex issues having a significant and strategic impact on processes and the business.

Responsibilities:

Leads Enterprise Cloud Reference Architecture function

Develops vision, strategy and execution in alignment with Domain roadmap demand

plans for Cloud Reference Architectures

Works alongside with other Reference Architects, Domain & Solution Architects, and Platform Engineering to ensure consistency and to aid in execution

Delivers cloud reference architectures in the public and private cloud for COTS to custom developed solutions and all combinations

Design solutions to meet the software “ilities” (Usability, Maintainability, Scalability, Availability, Extensibility, Portability and Security)

Creation and maintenance of Reference Architectures as required by business Domains and Platform teams

Ensures NIKE Technology keeps up with latest technology industry trends, product and solutions

Qualifications

  • Current knowledge of industry best practices

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business Information Management

  • 7+ years in architect roles and experience in performing the responsibilities of solution architecture

  • 3+ years as a lead architect

  • 10+ years in senior leadership roles

  • Proven track record of High-Profile communication written and verbal

  • Advocate and drive adoption of “best practices” to ensure standardization of cloud Reference Architectures across the Enterprise

  • Alignment with Nike Technology strategies through strong technical thought leadership

  • Effectively manage priorities, deliverables and timelines with little need for escalation

  • Work as part of a high functioning cross functional team to accelerate delivery of critical business capabilities

  • 10+ years combined hands-on engineering experience with public and/or private cloud,

  • distributed computing, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), and custom developed

  • solutions

  • Hands on engineering experience dealing with problems of scale.

  • Experience with DevOps principles and practices.

  • Large enterprise experience including global experience with solution delivery

  • Demonstrated track record of leading within complex organizations requiring strong

  • influence management skills - ability to work cooperatively at all levels in matrix

  • environment

  • Strong facilitation skills and experience in managing senior stakeholder relationship,

  • partnership and interactions

  • Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills with ability
