Description

As our Accounts Payable Team Leader you will provide leadership, analysis and administration within AP and maintain internal controls over the payable cycle to ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures and statutory legislation and regulations.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

FunctionalOperations and Reporting

  • Responsible for fullcountry Payable function, including core product imports and local production,general goods and services and capital acquisitions.

  • Review and interpretfinancial results with Financial manager.

  • Understand financialsystems and data elements.

  • Advise on financialimplications of business decisions.

  • Produce managementreporting and analytical tools.

  • Verify that financialactivity is recorded in accordance with accounting/finance policy.

  • Research financialanomalies and make corrections as necessary.

  • Support the Goods Receipt/Invoice receipt process by researching AP anomalies.

  • Participate in themonthly financial statement close for assigned entity.

  • Makeinput towards department planning and policies and procedures

Internalcontrols and Statutory Compliance

  • Monitor compliance of processes, transactionsand balances with accounting/ finance policies.

  • Assist with implementation and training ofaccounting policies and procedures.

  • Evaluate controls to ensure they are operatingeffectively and make recommendations to improve controls.

  • Ensure all payables transactions arecompliant with local statute (incl. VAT, PAYE, IOD, Skills Development andIncome Tax)

  • Continuous improvement ofprocesses to improve efficiency, enhance productivity and provide value addedbusiness support.

PeopleManagement

  • Set individual/team goals and ensure alignmentto departmental goals.

  • Motivate, coach, performance-manage, anddevelop individuals to attain goals.

  • Provide input into hiring decisions,performance management and recognition and rewards.

  • Address employee relations issues and supportdiversity.

Projects

  • Performad-hoc projects as and when required by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications

Requirements for this role includes:

  • Theincumbent must have an Accounting qualification with 3-4 years relevantexperience within retail or FMCG environment.

  • Shoulddemonstrate good knowledge of accounting principles, statutory and corporate.

  • Numeracy,accuracy and attention to detail are essential requirements

  • Proventrack record of development and successful implementation of internal controlprocesses and procedures.

  • Shouldbe results-oriented, demonstrate high-personal standards and possess strongtraits in self-discipline, information sharing, be adaptable and flexible tochange.

  • Shoulddemonstrate Independence, Initiative, problem-solving skills and Integrity.

  • Excellentcommunication with good people management skills, and ability to interact atall occupational levels

  • PCliteracy with advanced Excel skills.

  • SAPexperience will be highly advantageous
